DAY 1: ARRIVAL – SIEM REAP BY MORNING FLIGHT Nº… AT (-/L/D)

Breakfast at hotel Transfer to Phnom Penh International airport for departure to Siem Reap

Arrival at Siem Reap International Airport and direct transfer to the Angkor temple complex.

Visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century). See the South Gate (with its huge carvings depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Elephant Terrace , the Terrace of the Leper King and Ta Prohm. One of the area’s most beautiful temples, Ta Prohm has been left relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Its appeal lies in the fact that, unlike the other monuments of Angkor, it was swallowed by the jungle and looks very much the same way most of the monuments of Angkor must have appeared when European explorers first stumbled upon them. Lunch at local restaurant In the afternoon, visit the most famous of all the temples on the Angkor plain: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat’s five towers symbolize Meru’s five peaks, the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat symbolizes the ocean beyond. Dinner at local restaurant with Apsara dance Show. Overnight at hotel in Siem Reap

DAY 2: SIEM REAP – TOUR – DEAPRTURE BY FLIGHT (B/L/-)

Breakfast at hotel In the morning you will continue your temple visits included are Prasat Palace Gate(with its unique brick sculpture), the “Mountain Temple” of Pre Rup, Eastern Mebon, Neak Pean (a fountain built in the middle of a pool, representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake), and Preah Khan. Built by King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Taprohm, a place of towered enclosure and shoulder-hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. Lunch at local restaurant In the late afternoon, transfer to Siem Reap International Airport for departure flight to the nest destination
